The facility was established by Vereinigte Glanzstoff in Industriepark Oberbruch-Heinsberg, Germany, located near the Dutch border. It was one of the pioneering production plants for Polyester Polymers in Germany. Following a merger with ENKA, Glanzstoff was later acquired by AKZO Nobel Faser AG. AKZO Nobel Faser subsequently divested from the Fiber & Polymer business, selling Oberbruch's polyester operations to TWD / KUAG Elana.
In 2007, POG, under the management of Mr. Strätling, assumed ownership of the plant. Ongoing production was subsequently halted in order to renovate, modernize, and reposition the facility for the production of specialty polymers, including Circular PET, Circular DOTP, and Bio-based Homo & Copolyesters.
The plant was acquired by us, HIL-DIOLEN Polymers GmbH in 2013, with the intention of utilizing the facility for the production of Specialty Polymers using both virgin and recycled monomers.
